East Lancashire Medical Services (ELMS)
East Lancashire Medical Services (ELMS) evolved out of the Blackburn with Darwen and East Lancashire GP Out of Hours Co-Operatives and has been delivering healthcare to the Pennine Lancashire communities since 1994.
ELMS is a registered society under the Co-operative and Community Benefits Societies Act 2014.
ELMS deliver unscheduled primary healthcare services healthcare to the c550,000 population of Pennine Lancashire 24 hours per day 365 days a year. These services include a Clinical Assessment Service, working with paramedics on scene, NHS 999 and 111 services and also delivering a GP Out of Hours and Acute Visiting services on behalf of the 80 GP practices in Pennine Lancashire. We deliver a nurse led Care Navigation Hub which supports healthcare professionals in dealing with complex and at-risk patients.
ELMS are also leading the development of the Pennine Lancashire Single Point of Access/Care Coordination model with colleagues from East Lancs Hospital Trust and North West Ambulance Services.
ELMS deliver face to face provision from our own St Ives House headquarters site in Backburn and from Burnley General Hospital.
