Standing together for tolerance, respect and compassion
Urgent Health UK wants to make clear the values we stand for – as an organisation, and in representing our members and their teams who care for patients every day. We stand for tolerance, respect and compassion. These values guide how we work together and how we care for the communities we serve. They are not just words – they are the foundation of our
relationships with each other and with our patients.
Recent events, and the divisive tone we are seeing more widely, have left some colleagues feeling uncomfortable and unsafe at work and in the community. Acts of hate or discrimination of any kind have no place in our workplaces or in our society.
Our NHS is built on the dedication of people from many communities, cultures and countries. Across Urgent Health UK and our member organisations, this diversity of backgrounds, faiths, skills and experiences strengthens our services and enables us to deliver safe, effective and compassionate care to patients whenever they need us.
Every one of us has a role to play in creating supportive, inclusive workplaces where colleagues feel safe, valued and able to thrive – and where prejudice, racism and discrimination are actively identified, challenged and eliminated. Sometimes this is as simple as checking in with one another, taking time for a kind word, or showing support in small but meaningful ways.
Together, our commitment to these values ensures that our patients, our colleagues and
our communities know they are respected, included and cared for.
